The Story So Far...

'Poor Me / Kites' was the introductory 2007 debut AA single from new British talent Eugene Francis Jnr. Now in 2008, we can expect the 'The Golden Beatle' in April.

Hailing from Wales (where there is clearly no shortage of mesmerising and multi-talented artists), Eugene - according to the tale - was born to a chivalrous, Apache Indian and an exquisite, Inuit Eskimo under the timid Welsh sun.

They travelled with Eugene from continent to continent, in search of work and enlightenment. They were stubborn nomads, who in turn raised an unshakable hippy - but their taste in music was impeccable and thus Eugene was raised on Country, Blues and Folk Music, although when he misbehaved his parents made him listen to 80's Synth-Pop or Ambient.

Once settled in London, Eugene decided to capitalise on being in the capital city and got busy playing in as many different bands as possible: The Fantastic Super Foofs, Kaptainblack (championed by Lamacq and Sir John Peel for there loungey melodies) and Dirty Perfect.

After many months of hard musical grind with relatively little reward, Eugene decided to pack his little, junior guitar, and some threads and headed off to America on a Kerouac. During a late lock-in @ The White Horse Tavern (NYC) he was enlightened by a friend who told him to move away from the pop-rock-schlock music he had been making and look for something to call his own.

The result was the eagerly awaited album 'The Golden Beatle' and the word 'Folktronica' would never be the same.

The band ('The Juniors') were brought together by drawing from some of the best bands / musical individuals that the current Welsh music scene had to offer (Llion Robertson, Vito, Broken Leaf, Lindsey Leven and Lianne Francis) in order to reproduce the layers of instruments and percussion both live and on the recordings.
